When you or someone you know deals with things that are dark, traumatic or very depressing, people will tell you to hang in there, or that it gets better. I think this is disingenuous; instead, I think it's important people know that, as dark as things get, there's always the possibility that something amazing can happen that you wouldn't want to miss. These events can serve as a nightlight in the darkness. And, if nothing does happen, you should at least know you don't live in the dark alone. I live there, as do millions of others. We live there together.
